Ed suffered a stroke at his house in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on Saturday morning July 25^th. He was flown to Albuquerque that same day and admitted into the Neurological ICU of UNM Medical Center.

The ICU staff has identified a 5 centimeter clot (larger than a lime, smaller than a lemon) in his brain, and the extent of the damage to his brain is unknown at this time. Until the swelling, caused by the clot, begins to subside and his body begins to absorb the blood clot, we'll have a better understanding of a recovery program.

At present, they are keeping him sedated at all times while they measure his responses to stimulation and perform CT and MRI scans of his brain to monitor the clot. The staff has instructed us that every stroke and every stroke patient is unique, and it will be a week or two of monitoring (or more) before we know just how Ed will be affected.
